Frank Dreves took over the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, Commander’s Cross in the Parliament. President Schmitt Pál and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán rewarded Mr Dreves, the member of Audi AG’s Board of Directors responsible for production and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Audi Hungaria Motor Kft for his services rendered in the transformation of the Hungarian industry.
‘It is a special privilege for me to receive the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, Commander’s Cross. This recognition testifies Audi Hungaria’s outstanding performance as well. The company contributed to the reorganization of the Hungarian economy as a prominent operator following the political transformations in Eastern and Central Europe,’ said Dreves. ‘I have been keeping under review the development of our Győr subsidiary since its foundation, so I am aware of the ability of the company to perform and of the commitment of our colleagues. In the future, Audi Hungaria will significantly contribute to the realization of our growth strategy, and with this will become an important operator of the Hungarian economy,’ pointed out Dreves.
In the next 3 years, the Győr factory will be extended to the whole product chain of vehicle manufacturing. Till now, the bodies of the Audi models assembled in Győr were made in Ingolstadt and then transported to Hungary for assembly by train. In the future, the Győr company seat will be responsible for the entire manufacturing process including pressing and painting of the bodywork as well as assembly. The company will have invested 900 million euros for this purpose until 2013. From 2013 on, 125,000 vehicles will come off the manufacturing lines every year, and 1,800 new jobs will be created. With the extension, including suppliers and service-providers, the company will ensure the employment of over 15,000 people.
