• Strategic cooperation with Hungarian universities of technology to promote new workforce supply
• Cooperation in research and development projects
Today Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen AG, gave a lecture at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) on ‘Materials in Automobile Manufacturing’, which was attended by 300 university students and 100 guests from political and economic life.
During years of cooperation between BME and Audi Hungaria, this was the sixth time that Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn had given a lecture at BME. In this year’s lecture he gave an insight into the versatile world of demand and use of materials in the automotive industry.
Cooperation with the largest technical universities of Hungary – the Budapest University of Technology, Széchenyi István University of Győr, and the University of Miskolc – is of key importance for Audi Hungaria, as these institutions play a prominent role in new workforce supply.
The company has also organized numerous events and lectures with the participation of researchers and executives from the VW Concern.
Audi Hungaria and BME launched research projects in a variety of topics: in addition to engine analyses and computer simulations, the deployment and development of new analytic methods also have a very important place.
Due to an expansion of its manufacturing facilities, Audi Hungaria can offer jobs and development opportunities for technical university graduates. Furthermore, the company employs more than 350 interns each year. The effectiveness of the cooperation is most apparent in the achievement that Audi Hungaria has been voted ‘Most Attractive Employer’ by college and university students for the third time in 2011.
Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn started his career in the automotive industry at Audi in 1981. From 2002 to 2007 he was Chairman of the Board at AUDI AG. From January 1, 2007 Winterkorn has been Chairman of the Board at Volkswagen AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board at AUDI AG. Prof. Winterkorn has been an Honorary Professor at BME since 2003. Prof. Winterkorn was decorated with the Cross from the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic for his merits in the development of the Hungarian automotive industry, and was awarded the title of ‘Honorary Citizen of Budapest University of Technology and Economics’ in 2007 for his support in educational and research activities.
