New Managing Director at the Vehicle Production Department of Audi Hungaria

• Arnd-Robert Sponagel will be the head of vehicle production as of 01 July.
• His predecessor Gerd Walker will move on to new responsibilities at AUDI AG in Ingolstadt.

Győr, 01 July 2016—From that day on, Arnd-Robert Sponagel will be the managing director responsible for vehicle production at AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. The new managing director is coming from the Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt, where he was responsible for the production of the bodies of Audi A4, A5 and Q5 models since 2012. Sponagel is a qualified engineer and works for AUDI AG for 26 years now.

Arnd-Robert Sponagel was born in 1960 in Echem, Lower Saxony. He started his professional career at AUDI AG in Ingolstadt, at the department of Logistics, after graduating as a mechanical engineer in 1990. He was first assigned a management position in 1994, at the Sales department. Later on, he filled management positions at various departments including Vehicle Controls or the Body Production of the A4 model. At the Ingolstadt site Sponagel was responsible for the production of the bodies of Audi A4, A5 and Q5 models from 2012 on. Sponagel has two children, a son and a daughter.

“Arnd-Robert Sponagel is a highly skilled expert at the area of body production. The Vehicle Production department of Audi Hungaria will profit a lot from the knowledge and experience of the new director, especially in the preparation phase of the production of our new model, the Audi Q3”, said Prof. Dr. Hubert Waltl, Member of the Board of Management at AUDI AG responsible for production and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft.

Arnd-Robert Sponagel will take over the responsibilities of the managing director responsible for vehicle production from Gerd Walker, who was assigned a management position at the new department of Product Line Management in Ingolstadt. The new vehicle factory of Audi Hungaria was opened and the production of the Audi A3 Limousine, the A3 Cabriolet, the Audi TT Coupé and the third generation of the Roadster models was launched during his management.

Prof. Dr. Hubert Waltl expressed his gratitude to Gerd Walker for his commitment and successful work at Audi Hungaria. “Gerd Walker has contributed to the progress of our Győr production site a great deal. The series production of four new models was launched during his management, which was implemented in a new factory, and production volumes were shortly back to normal in high quality.

Currently there are 4,200 employees working at the Vehicle Production department of Audi Hungaria, where the four Győr models: A3 Limousine, A3 Cabriolet, TT Coupé and TT Roadster are manufactured, and where the series production of the new TT RS Coupé and Roadster models will be launched soon.
