The First Győr-Made SUV: Launching the Production of the Audi Q3 at Audi Hungaria

Győr, 28 August 2018—The first model of the second generation of Audi Q3 rolled off the assembly line of Audi Hungaria today: the first Győr-made premium compact SUV was made in turbo blue color. The new Audi Q3 is available in four engine variants: three petrol and one diesel version, combined with front-wheel or quattro drive.

“Nearly 1 in 3 Audis we deliver is an SUV. Manufacturing the Q model is a great honor for the Hungarian production site, which strengthens the competitiveness of Audi Hungaria and ensures long-term success for the company”, Achim Heinfling, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt said. “I am proud of our employees who have been involved all along the phase-in process of the Audi Q3 with many years of professional experience and all their commitment to this model.”

A new body factory of 80,000 m² and with 700 new robots was built for the construction of the new, sporty second-generation Audi Q3. The construction hall was completed in merely 18 months, which is a time record. Over 1,000 employees were trained in the construction of the Audi Q3 in the last 18 months. For this purpose, new, innovative robotic cells were commissioned in the Audi Hungaria Training Center.

The Audi Q3 is the 5^th Győr-made model. The SUV is made on the same assembly line as the Audi A3 Limousine and Cabriolet, as well as the Audi TT Coupé and Roadster models. This means that Győr has one of the most flexible assembly lines within the Audi Concern.

Audi Hungaria’s yearly production capacity is 160,000 vehicles, which makes the four-ring company one of Hungary’s biggest automobile manufactures. Currently about 4,500 employees work in vehicle construction, and over 12,500 people work at the company altogether.
