Formula Student East — engineers of the future enter the race with the support of Audi Hungaria

Győr, July 17, 2019 AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. supports four Hungarian teams in the national races of the Formula Student East construction competition: SZEngine, Arrabona Racing Team, BME Formula Racing Team and BME Motorsport are going to compete with 72 teams from 22 countries in the international race at the weekend at the Zalaegerszegi Automotive Test Track, aka Zala ZONE.

Almost 2,300 students will participate in the Hungarian race of one of the largest student design competitions in Europe. The students will enter the race with unique engine and vehicle designs, and their open box street can also be visited by spectators. Among the teams supported by Audi Hungaria, the Arrabona Racing Team and the BME Motorsport team will start their car with an internal combustion engine developed by the SZEngine team of Győr, and the BME Formula Racing Team will compete in the race with an electric drive.

“Being a Formula Student engine development team, we have a unique opportunity to collaborate with teams in this race series. AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. provides us with a huge support in establishing this cooperation, which will enable us to compete with our partner teams this year in six Formula Student competitions in four countries, including the Hungarian Formula Student East”, said Szabolcs Györkös, team captain of SZEngine.

Arrabona Racing Team captain Gábriel Gudra added: “Audi Hungaria has provided the conditions for our team to be a professional racer at the Formula Student for six years now. Audi's experienced staff mentors our team members and helps us throughout our professional life and in starting our careers.”

“For us, Formula Student means we can get hands-on knowledge and work as a team while attending the university. We are honoured to be trusted by a great automotive company like Audi Hungaria”, said Benedek Pláner, chief engineer of the BME Motorsport team.

“We are glad to have the opportunity to be challenged and to have the four-ring company behind us. For us, the competition is a combination of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge and teamwork, for which we have been preparing quite hard”, said Kristóf Bukovácz, team captain of the BME Formula Racing Team.

Audi Hungaria has a key role in supporting broad-based university collaboration, including the promotion of talented young engineers.

The competition series provides an excellent opportunity for attracting future professionals, talent research and working with the specialized field at the company.

More than 50 Formula Student students work as trainees at Audi Győr every year. Since its Formula Student sponsorship, the large automotive company has welcomed many of the students participating in the race as new colleagues.
