• Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria: "Our toolmaking shop is a specialist for highly complex exterior body parts in the Group"
Győr, November 4, 2020 - Audi Hungaria opened its toolmaking shop in 2005 for the production of press tools, body shop equipment and body parts. Through continuous improvements, the production area has increased from 18,000 square meters to 52,000 square meters over the past 15 years, and the number of employees has grown from an initial 150 to 700.
"The opening of the toolmaking shop was an important milestone in the portfolio expansion of Audi Hungaria. I am particularly proud that our toolmaking shop, as the Group's leading location, specialises in highly complex steel and aluminum body parts for the top models of the Audi and Volkswagen Group," said Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt.
The toolmaking shop is currently developing pressing tools and body shop equipment until they are ready for use in series production. In addition, almost all body components of the Audi and Volkswagen Group's sports models are manufactured in exclusive production.
"Our vehicle plant has an annual capacity of 160,000 cars, and since last year we have also been producing models with electric powertrains and mild hybrid technology. In addition, we supply another 25,000 of the group's supercars annually with body parts from our toolmaking shop," says Les Zoltán, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. responsible for Vehicle Production.
The highly complex exterior body parts manufactured in Győr, such as bonnets, doors, tailgates, fenders and side panels, are installed in Audi sports models such as the Audi RS models, the Audi R8 and Lamborghini models and the Bentley Bentayga model.
Both the toolmaking and the exclusive series production are state of the art. The product portfolio consists of equipment for the production of exterior body parts, which are mainly made of aluminum. A special feature is that more than 60 engineers use computer systems to simulate, design and program production fixtures continuously. The production staff is supported by state-of-the-art systems and equipment.
"The success story of the tool factory is the result of the combination of cross-site competencies and the excellent cooperation between Hungarian and German tool factory experts," says Anton Habermeier, Head of Toolmaking and Exclusive Series Production at Audi Hungaria.
The company provides the tooling shop with highly qualified specialists through the internationally recognised dual vocational training and dual university studies.
