• Another milestone on the way towards electromobility
• Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria: „Our company has all the base competences needed for electromobility”
Győr, December 7, 2020– The first plug-in hybrid model of Audi Hungaria, an Audi Q3 Sportback in turbo blue colour rolled down from the production line. Thus, the company has reached the next level of electromobility. The plug-in hybrid technology is based on a classic combustion engine and an electric motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The 1.4 liter TFSI engine of the car was also produced in Győr.
„Audi Hungaria has been going consistently on the way of electromobilty since 2018, and it keeps reaching milestones over and over again. First, we started the series production of electric drives, followed by our vehicles with electric powertrain, the mild-hybrid models. For the production of our first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicle, the Audi Q3 45 TFSI e model we use our more than 20 years of experience in producing premium cars and enter the new world of electromobilty “, said Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt.
The company has integrated the production of plug-in hybrid models into its already existing production infrastructure. New machines and robots were put into operation in the body shop for the manufacturing of modified and new car body parts. In the vehicle assembly a new PHEV-specific work station was established, where among others the charging connection is built-in. As always, primary focus was on ergonomics in the work station design, thus a special lifting equipment supports the employees in the mounting of high-voltage battery and tank.
„A complex product, the Audi Q3 plug-in hybrid model has been added to our vehicle production. Thanks to the excellent cooperation of those who participated in the product’s integration, we are prepared for the series production of Audi Hungaria’s first plug-in hybrid model. I keep counting on the expertise and engagement of the whole vehicle production team”, said Zoltán Les, Board Member for Vehicle Production at AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt.
Audi Hungaria has prepared and trained 1500 employees for the production of PHEV-models in theorical and practical trainings. Furthermore, several Hungarian workers supported the production of Audi e-tron in Brussels and Volkswagen ID.3 in Zwickau, gaining important experience.
