• The largest exclusive series project of Audi Hungaria's toolmaking to date.
• Les Zoltán, Member of the Board of Management, responsible for Vehicle Production: "This project is proof of the competence and flexibility of our toolmaking shop"
Győr, December 15, 2020 - Production of the sporty, all-electric Audi e-tron GT has recently begun at AUDI AG's Audi Böllinger Höfe production site in Neckarsulm, Germany. As part of the Audi Group's international production network, Audi Hungaria is making an important contribution to the project: the toolmaking in Győr manufactures the highly complex aluminum body parts of the electrically powered Gran Turismo.
"Our tool shop stands for precision, flexibility and the know-how of our employees. The body parts of the Volkswagen and Audi Group's sportiest models are manufactured here using state-of-the-art technology. From now on, we will also manufacture the body parts of the electric top model, the Audi e-tron GT. We are pleased to be able to contribute to the production of Audi's first electric sports car with the know-how of our tool factory," says Les Zoltán, Member of the Board of Management AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt., responsible for Vehicle Production.
Almost all body components of the Audi e-tron GT are manufactured exclusively at Audi Hungaria. Employees of the toolmaking shop also manufacture the doors, fenders, bonnet and tailgate for the Gran Turismo.
During the project, the production designers and engineers succeeded in integrating the production of new body parts into the existing production process. In addition to the body parts for the e-tron GT, body parts for existing models such as the Audi R8, other Audi RS models and the Lamborghini and Bentley models will continue to be produced on the highly flexible production lines. The preparations for series production took place in cross-site teamwork: Audi Hungaria's toolmaking experts developed, manufactured and programmed the equipment and tools required for production, while the press tools were manufactured in Győr, Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. In addition, the exterior and interior parts of the doors are manufactured at Audi Hungaria's large press shop.
The toolmaking shop in Győr currently has 700 employees.
