Győr, 07 February 2017 — Audi Hungaria is the biggest industrial geothermal energy consumer in Hungary. Since its switch to green energy, the company has used 100 GWh of geothermal energy and has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 20,170 tons.
“Sustainability and efficiency are both integral elements of Audi Hungaria’s strategy, therefore they are highly encouraged during everyday operations and production processes”, Axel Schifferer, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria for Finance said. “By using geothermal energy, the environmentally friendly operations of the company are sustainably ensured, as nearly 70% of our total heat energy requirement is supplied in a carbon-neutral manner.”
Two years ago the company turned over a brand new leaf regarding its energy supply. Since November 2015, it is supplied with renewable geothermal energy from the heating center in Bőny. As part of the Győr Geothermal project, Audi Hungaria has made a long-term contract with DD Energy Kft, subsidiary of PannErgy Nyrt, for its geothermal energy supply. The cooperation is for 17 years and may optionally be extended for another 15 years.
