Next Level Gallery: Tool Shop

We all start small. But look at us now! Driven by passion, courage, daring, competitiveness and expertise, we followed our dreams and made history. Join us on a journey to discover the pillars of Audi Hungaria’s portfolio, looking back to the past, experiencing the present and wondering about the future!

After the familiar information boards of powertrain production and vehicle manufacturing at the first two stands, the board of the tool shop may catch the eyes of less knowledgeable visitors. But beneath the furrowed foreheads and knitted eyebrows, the eyes open wide as soon as they glance at the cars under the board. Yes, the tool shop of Audi Hungaria also produces body parts for the RS e‑tron GT on display and even for the Bentley Bentayga standing triumphantly alongside it. Why is that, you may ask?

At the stand of the tool shop in the Next Level Gallery, project manager Roland Pintér talks about what lies behind the name and the walls of the tool shop.

Powertrain production makes powertrains, vehicle manufacturing makes vehicles, and the tool shop makes tools, right? What is the role of the tool shop at Audi Hungaria?

In addition to the two traditional areas, i.e. toolmaking and appliance and equipment manufacturing, our tool shop does indeed have a third pillar, namely exclusive series production, where we make body parts for the top models in the premium segment. Of the three main areas of the tool shop, the first pillar is, of course, toolmaking, where tools (often weighing more than 50-60 tons) are designed and manufactured for sheet metal forming. In our second main area, our specialists in appliance and equipment manufacturing design production equipment for almost all Audi sites for the assembly of sheet metal parts that are manufactured in the tools. Our third main area of activity is exclusive series production. Our know-how in the processing of steel, aluminum and stainless steel has enabled us to become a supplier of exterior body parts for Audi sports models, other than the standard series. Since our foundation in 2005, we have been constantly changing, evolving and expanding our portfolio.

Your customers are international, so it’s easy to understand the motto “From Győr to the world”.

Indeed, we manufacture body parts for the models of the Progressive Brand Group, including Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini. For example, we supply wider body parts for the RS4 and RS6 models, but also parts for the Lamborghini Aventador and Porsche Panamera. This activity is the real USP of Audi Hungaria, a unique competitive advantage that makes us stand out within the Group. In addition to the high level of knowledge and competencies we have acquired during the years, we have achieved this also through synergies from the cooperation of our three business areas: press tools making, appliance and equipment manufacturing and exclusive series production.

Like all areas, you are certainly affected by e-transformation. How does this feel in the tool shop?

Our portfolio now includes more than just the body parts for supercars powered by internal combustion engines, so we have successfully embarked on a transformation journey with our business model, as exemplified by the e-tron GT at our stand, which is currently the model we supply in the highest volume.

What attractions have you prepared for the Next Level Gallery exhibition?

We have chosen two vehicles for the exhibition that couldn’t be more different from each other, and therefore perfectly showcase our diversity. While the e-tron GT is one of the most sporty electric four-door Gran Turismo models, the Bentley Bentayga is the pinnacle of luxury cars in this version with extended wheelbase and extended length. If you peek inside, you’ll even discover a built-in champagne cooler. And behind these cars, you can see the body parts that we make to contribute to their perfection. I think we can offer something to suit all tastes. What these vehicles have in common is us, the tool shop of Audi Hungaria. From Győr to the world for customers for whom the ordinary is not enough.
