What happened to us – memories to put in the album of 2025

Audi Hungaria has been writing its history since 1993, for more than 32 years now, and since then it has become intertwined not only with the history of our narrow community, but also with the economic history of the city of Győr, our home, and of our country as well. We have become a major player in the automotive industry not only in Hungary, but also in Europe and even the world, while progress is never steady. Sometimes we fly ahead, other times we have to make or acknowledge difficult choices. Year after year, our world is changing faster than ever before. But we don't want to keep up, we want to dictate the pace and we want to be the change.

As one of the world's largest powertrain and engine factories, we have produced our 46 millionth powertrain by the end of 2025, and this year we celebrated the 5 millionth engine in the EA211 engine family. In 1994, the first year of Audi Hungaria's production, the first four-cylinder engine was built on a newly installed production line in Győr. Since then, the it has played a key role in our portfolio, as its design and production have been continuously adapted to technological changes, new products and market needs.

Next year will also see the 50th anniversary of the R5 engine, which has become a legend of the AUDI brand and one of the most important pillars of its technology. With its inimitable sound, power and performance, this engine became world famous not only on the racetrack but also on the road – and to this day, it offers an emotional driving experience. We are proud that the legendary five-cylinder power unit is made in our company, where it is manufactured entirely by hand, without robots, by highly skilled craftsmen, and the main components, such as the connecting rod and the plasma-coated crankcase, are also made in Győr.

Audi Hungaria has been a reliable partner of the Volkswagen Group's international production network for more than three decades. This year, we welcomed the news that the company's engine development and production expertise will be used to power the new Audi Q5 and Audi A6 models. The new three-liter V6 diesel engine with a power of 220 kW (299 HP) and a torque of 580 Nm sets a new benchmark, for the first time using the MHEV plus technology that offers partial electrification, increasing performance and driving pleasure while reducing fuel consumption.

Audi Hungaria is a key player in the future of mobility, contributing innovation and expertise to the development of electromobility. In 2025, our engine factory has been in full swing preparing for the series production of the new generation of MEBeco electric drives, a project that has entered its final phase with pre-production. The preparation of production lines and equipment for series production is in full swing.

The one millionth Audi Q3 rolled off the production line at our factory. The success story of this popular model continues with the new generation of the Audi Q3, which celebrated its world premiere in Ingolstadt, Germany this summer. This new dynamic SUV combines efficiency, driving dynamics and comfort, with a spacious interior and modern, customizable digital solutions. After the world premiere in June, the production of the third generation started, with a sage green Q3 rolling off the production line at the launch ceremony, followed by another Q-model, namely the Audi Q3 Sportback later this summer.

Audi Hungaria’s Tool Shop celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. On the occasion of this anniversary, we looked back to the beginnings, how our Győr plant became one of the largest and most innovative tool shops in Central and Eastern Europe, with a history of know-how, continuous development and shared success. Started in 2005 with 185 employees on 18,000 m², the tool shop has now produced more than 3 million automotive body parts, 3,200 press tools as well as 5,500 assembly tools and equipment with unrivalled precision.

In addition to engine and vehicle production, Audi Hungaria has been involved in technical development for almost 25 years. In Technical Development, we now have a total of 700 people working on powertrains and vehicles. In 2025, this business unit with a very high added value reached another milestone: power electronics development was added to our portfolio as a separate competence with nearly forty highly qualified development engineers. Our company is thus further strengthening its role in the Volkswagen Group's international development network and actively shaping the future of electromobility.

What happened in 2025 is not only measured in terms of production volumes and developments. Our company is committed to social responsibility as well. Our Social Day initiative is all about helping the people around us and our environment, whether it's renovating social institutions, landscaping in schools, or activities for the elderly or children. This year again, nearly two hundred of our employees worked at the now traditional corporate volunteering day, the Social Day. We have helped in eleven volunteer projects in children's homes, several schools in the region, an animal shelter and a community building of a folk dance club, and this year we have also been involved in plogging, a new sporting environmental protection activity.

The partnership between art and business enables high quality and sustainable artistic performance. Good examples of this are the support of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, the Benedictine events in Győr and Pannonhalma, and the decades-long cooperation between Audi Hungaria and the Győr Ballet, which this year again presented the Audi Hungaria Quality Dance Award. At the 12th award ceremony, Rebeka Szendrey, an outstanding dancer of the company, received the award.

In addition to supporting culture, sports and various social institutions, our social responsibility also includes our involvement in education. We believe that building and consciously developing competencies is the key to future readiness – at the Audi Hungaria School, we start this from pre-school age. In the fall of 2025, the bell rang for the 16th school year for almost 900 students at the institution, where we have further strengthened the development of digital competences, the approach to sustainability and the support for personalized learning pathways.

In our dual vocational training program, we welcomed 115 young people again this year who have completed their studies in 2025 in Audi Hungaria's dual vocational training program. One of the keys to the transformation of the automotive industry is the continuous development of our competences. One pillar of this is dual training, the close integration of production and training processes, in which our students are active participants. Every year, we recognize the work, talent and dedication of our young professionals, to encourage future generations to achieve professional excellence. And this year, our students again excelled in excellence. The Volkswagen Group honors outstanding achievements: Márk Horváth, an alternative vehicle drive technician from Audi Hungaria's dual vocational training program, was awarded with the 2025 Best Apprentice Award in recognition of his professional achievements.

Anniversaries, high production numbers, an expanding service portfolio and a heartfelt commitment to social responsibility – in the challenging present of the automotive industry, we are putting these memories in the album of 2025.
