“This is the land of Audi”: artworks welcome passengers at Liszt Ferenc International Airport

Budapest/Győr, May 18, 2023 – This year marks the 30th anniversary of Audi’s debut as the first premium car brand with manufacturing capacity in Hungary, having recognized the potential of Hungary’s market, both regionally and globally, earlier than any of its competitors. This is how Hungary became “The land of Audi” 30 years ago. In this jubilee year, the Audi brand of the exclusive Hungarian distributor, Porsche Hungaria, and AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. in Győr launched a unique initiative to support young artistic talents and promote their special message. Together they searched for young artists whose creative artworks will now welcome passengers arriving at Liszt Ferenc International Airport on behalf of Audi.

Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, and Balázs Németh, Managing Director of Porsche Hungaria, jointly “unveiled” the result of the cooperation at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Talented students from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and the Design Campus of Széchenyi István University entered the art competition announced at the beginning of the 2022/23 school year. The entries submitted showed the young artists’ fresh vision and unique perspective on the activities of the Audi premium brand in Hungary. Their work inspired design solutions that greet the traveling public at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport in a worthy manner, and promote the main message of the Audi brand and the Győr-based company: the future viability of both Audi and Audi Hungaria. The special award-winning work will be on display at Audi Hungaria in Győr.

“The Audi brand of Porsche Hungaria has always been at the forefront of supporting arts and culture, just like Audi Hungaria, whether it is the Psota Irén Award, the Jazz Picnic, the Art and Antique Exhibition or even the Győr Ballet. That is why we are delighted to have been able to ‘join forces’ in this unique initiative, and to reach out to young artistic talents. It is no secret that our intention is to expand the scope of our artistic cooperation, which is boosted by the fact that our competition was a great success among young people,” said Balázs Németh, Managing Director of Porsche Hungaria.

“This valuable cooperation symbolizes the coming together of the Audi brand, Audi Hungaria and the creativity of the next generation. Supporting art and young talents is a priority for us, and this initiative underlines this. We are delighted to have partnered with Porsche Hungaria, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and Széchenyi István University in Győr to give young people a platform for creativity, and as a result, the students have delighted us with their imaginative works of art and design solutions. Liszt Ferenc International Airport is a gateway to Hungary – together with the Audi brand, we want to give our business card to millions of people arriving in the country. Hungary is the land of Audi and Audi Hungaria: we are an international company, yet Hungary has been our home for 30 years where we are proud to continue our success story as the most attractive employer in the country – from Győr to the world,” said Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.

The entries received for the joint art competition of Porsche Hungaria and Audi Hungaria faithfully reflect the brand’s innovative products and the companies’ future-oriented business activities. The artists of the six best entries to the competition were invited to an inspiring factory visit at Audi Hungaria, where they were able to learn more about the company’s activities and the Audi brand.

The entries created by the winner of the competition, Bence Kiss, a student of Széchenyi István University Design Campus, symbolize the spirit of the future generation with a progressive graphic design, perfectly depicting the innovative spirit of Audi models and Audi Hungaria products, the wide range of social responsibilities of the Audi brand and the Győr-based company, as well as its initiatives supporting Hungary’s sports scene. The work of Helga Korodi, a student of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) has been granted a special award. Its colorful, distinctive shapes are an eye-catching yet stylish expression of Audi’s dynamism. Employees and visitors of Audi Hungaria can see her work on display in Győr.
