The cooperation between CUPRA and Audi Hungaria dates back long before Terramar series production: the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 models are also powered by the iconic five‑cylinder petrol engine produced in Győr.
“The production of the 100,000th CUPRA Terramar is an excellent example of how the flexibility of our vehicle plant meets the commitment of our employees. This achievement strengthens not only our production expertise but also the long‑term competitiveness of Audi Hungaria,” said Michael Breme, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.
The dynamic, emotionally charged design language created in Barcelona meets Audi precision in Győr: the CUPRA Terramar is produced on the same assembly line as the Audi Q3 family.
The CUPRA Terramar project began at the Győr vehicle plant in 2021, with series production starting in 2024. The Terramar is based on the MQB platform developed by Volkswagen and is complemented by CUPRA‑specific elements. The integration of the model into the existing production system resulted in significant synergies and outstanding cost efficiency — the launch of an entirely new vehicle model was achieved without building a new hall and without interrupting production.
In 2025, more than 71,000 CUPRA Terramar vehicles were produced in Győr, reflecting strong market demand and a stable production ramp‑up.
“I congratulate my colleagues on producing the 100,000th CUPRA Terramar. This achievement demonstrates their exceptional expertise and dedication. I am confident that the next one hundred thousand vehicles will be produced with the same outstanding quality and professionalism — now under my leadership of the vehicle production division,” said Jürgen Russer, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria responsible for Vehicle Production.
“The Terramar is not only popular across Europe, but also in Hungary. In its first full year on the market, the model exceeded 400 sales in Hungary, becoming the top performer in the national CUPRA portfolio. The key to its success lies in the product itself: in addition to its distinctive yet universally appealing design, it is the refined, high‑quality interior solutions — many of which were realized thanks to Audi Hungaria — that truly set it apart. We are grateful for this model and the exceptional quality it represents,” added Ádám Rozgonyi, Head of CUPRA Hungary.
A unique version of the model is also being produced in Győr: the CUPRA Terramar Tribe Edition will be manufactured until autumn 2026. This edition combines the bold, expressive character of the CUPRA Tribe with the brand’s sustainability ambitions. Innovation is reflected in the production process as well: the bucket seats are created using 3D‑knitting technology, which forms the material in its final three‑dimensional shape without cutting or stitching — ensuring zero textile waste. The dashboard and air vents receive a bio‑based coating, while the premium alloy wheels contain 20% recycled material and are finished in the striking Sulphur Green colour. Copper‑coloured CUPRA logos and matte paintwork further enhance the model’s unique appearance.
