“We closed the previous year with many successes: we showed that Audi Hungaria is much more than a production company, as we offer our customers competence-oriented services alongside our premium vehicles and powertrains, in line with our Next Level Strategy – from Győr to the world. Our anniversary year 2023 was marked by record volumes in vehicle production, exclusive series body parts and electric drives. In our anniversary year, Audi Hungaria was voted “Hungary’s Most Attractive Workplace” and received the “Family-Friendly Workplace” certificate from the Hungarian Government, as well as the “Company of the Year” award from the city of Győr and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I would like to thank our employees for this outstanding achievement. We are confidently and determinedly moving forward on our path of transformation”, said Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.
Audi Hungaria continues to be the world’s largest powertrain manufacturer: in 2023, a total of 1,660,425 powertrains were produced in Győr, of which 114,058 were electric drives. The company has produced 158,802 three-cylinder, 806,685 four-cylinder petrol and 198,802 diesel engines. A total of 19,734 five‑cylinder Otto engines, 277,081 petrol and 78,905 diesel six-cylinder engines were produced. Audi Hungaria produced 6,216 ten-cylinder petrol engines in 2023.
In 2023, a total of 177,775 Audi vehicles (including SKD production) rolled off the production line at the four-ring Győr-based company; a record performance for the vehicle factory. Audi Q3 models were produced in the highest number by our employees, with a total of 94,283 units. In addition to the Q3 models, 73,806 Q3 Sportbacks were produced in Győr in 2023, as well as 6,850 Audi TT Coupé and 2,681 TT Roadster models. Of the Q3 and Q3 Sportback models, 24,579 plug-in hybrid and 5,393 mild hybrid models were produced in 2023.
In addition to powertrain and vehicle production, the company also offers competence-based procurement, IT and financial services. Moreover, the company’s colleagues are also involved in high‑quality technical development. Audi Hungaria’s Technical Development, which has been operating in Győr since 2001, expanded its competencies in 2023 by extending its combustion engine and electric drive module development activities to the entire powertrain system.
Audi Hungaria had 11,663 colleagues on December 31, 2023, which means it was the largest employer in the region in 2023. Last year, Audi Hungaria founded its wholly-owned subsidiary AUDI HUNGARIA AHEAD Kft. This subsidiary, providing services to the Volkswagen Group that are not directly related to production, such as procurement, IT and financial services, has grown steadily over the past year, with a total of 480 colleagues by the end of the year. In total, the two companies employed 12,143 people.
The company set ambitious targets and new milestones for 2024. In addition to the production of Audi models, preparations are already underway for the series production of the CUPRA Terramar, starting this year. The company also started preparations for the production of the new generation of electric motors, called MEBeco.
