"The ramp-up of MEBeco's powertrain production is an important milestone for our Company and further strengthens our position in the electromobility value chain. I am proud of the outstanding commitment and professionalism of our staff members. The more than 2,000 training days are much more than just an indicator – they represent the knowledge and motivation that will provide a solid foundation for the successful start of series production," said Peter Will, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, responsible for Powertrain Production.
Audi Hungaria has been producing electric motors for eight years and has considerable experience in the large-scale production of electric drives. The MEBeco (Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten – modular electric-drive toolkit) is the Company's second electric drive system specifically designed for large-scale series production. Building on existing expertise, Audi Hungaria prepares for the start of production with targeted qualification measures and consistently develops the competences of its employees.
The comprehensive competence development programme was implemented by Audi Hungaria's own training centre, the Audi Hungaria Academy, in close cooperation with technology suppliers, partner universities and production departments. The broad professional cooperation ensured continuous knowledge transfer and high standard training, which is one of Audi Hungaria's long-term strategic strengths. The specialist areas concerned not only joined in the programme as participants, but also actively contributed to the development of new training content.
Training started early on in the project, mainly focused on developing competences in production technology and automation, with a particular focus on power electronics and plate pack production. This knowledge is key to the production of MEBeco components.
Targeted training sessions have been provided in a number of key areas of production technology, including automation, gear and drives technology, heat treatment, laser technology, brazing and the basics of pressing technology. An outstanding achievement is the newly introduced training based on machine vision and camera systems, which imparts advanced automation skills, supports the work of several production areas and strengthens the Company's technological readiness for the future. This reflects Audi Hungaria's commitment to knowledge transfer and continuous improvement.
The training courses will not only contribute to the successful ramp-up of the MEBeco project, but also to the professional stability and competitiveness of the Győr-based engine factory in the long term. The knowledge gained and the further increase in production depth form an important basis for the future-oriented electromobility strategy of Audi and the Volkswagen Group.
