“Our company has a 30-year tradition of volunteering, and for us, it goes without saying that we support good causes. The active participation of our employees in the “It’s good to do good!” project is a clear sign that at Audi Hungaria, social responsibility is not only a pillar of our corporate strategy, but also a way of thinking of a community committed to acts of good citizenship. I am grateful to the team of Audi Hungaria. This award is a worthy recognition of their commitment,” said Kinga Németh, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria responsible for Human Resources and Organization.
“The ‘It’s good to do good!’ project is an initiative where we can show the power of our community and share it with the world around us. Our community is also exemplary in volunteering,” said György Nagy, Chairman of the Audi Hungaria Works Council.
CSR Hungary has been promoting responsible and sustainable corporate models in Hungary since 2006, in recognition of which it established the CSR Hungary Award. Projects for the Hungarian Corporate Social Responsibility Award are judged by a professional committee.
In the spirit of social responsibility, Audi Hungaria has – since its foundation in 1993 – undertaken numerous voluntary initiatives to improve the living standards of the people in the region.
Two years ago, Audi Hungaria organized the first “It’s good to do good!” month of volunteering, during which employees could join volunteer projects not only by volunteering in their free time, but also by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the region, sharing their expertise and professional knowledge in a series of pro bono lectures organized jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Győr-Moson-Sopron County. During the month of volunteering, staff members painted schools and kindergartens, helped renovate an animal shelter, shopped for the elderly, did outdoor and garden work, and read stories to children in hospital, among others.
This June, employees of the four-ring brand also took part in the Audi Social Day international volunteer day. The day, initiated by AUDI AG, combined the social commitment of Audi employees with volunteer work at all of the company’s production sites around the world. On this day, staff members of the Győr-based company implemented a total of 5 projects, including the founding of a municipal-level donation center, which opened its doors in October. Audi Hungaria, the Győr Family and Child Welfare Services Center, the Győr Unified Health and Social Institute and the Győr Homeless Assistance Service Center worked in cooperation to set up the “Fogadó” (Lodge) donation center in Győr, where Audi Hungaria volunteers contributed not only with their physical work but also with their know-how by developing software for the organization and storage of donations.
