Audi Q6 e-tron launched with electric drives in Győr

Ingolstadt/Győr – March 18, 2024 – The Audi Q6 e-tron is the first production model built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) electric platform, which represents the next decisive step for the company on the road to premium electromobility. The electric SUV embodies “Progress through technology” with its product features. In addition to its impressive driving and charging performance, the model also features increased efficiency and a longer range. The Audi Q6 e-tron embodies Audi’s signature SUV styling with a consistent evolution of the e-tron-specific design. The new design philosophy and future-oriented technologies debuting in the interior of the model represent a new chapter in electromobility for the four-ring brand, making “Progress through technology” a reality every day. With the Audi Q6 e-tron model series, electromobility arrived to the production lines at the company’s headquarters in Ingolstadt, while the electric drives for the model are being produced at Audi Hungaria in Győr.

The PPE platform, jointly developed with Porsche, and the E3 1.2 electronic architecture are key milestones in the global expansion of Audi’s electric drivetrain range and, at the same time, are the first signs of a comprehensive strengthening and modernization of our model portfolio. The Audi Q6 e-tron confirms the brand’s promise to offer electric cars in all segments by 2027. “The Audi Q6 e-tron, based on the new PPE platform, brings the next technological level of premium electromobility to our customers,” said Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, during the world premiere at the company’s headquarters in Ingolstadt. “The PPE is further proof of how effectively we can combine our competences within the Volkswagen Group and thus continue to make steady progress along the path of electromobility.

The PPE will allow us to bring high-tech and high-volume models to market in different segments, which will enable us to further electrify our model portfolio,” continued Gernot Döllner. Thanks to the flexibility of PPE, we can ensure that future models will have both unique characteristics and a typical Audi DNA, despite having the same technological basis.

The Audi Q6 e-tron sets new standards with regard to electric performance, range and charging. The model embodies a sporty, dynamic SUV style with a consistent enhancement of the design typical of electric drivetrain models offered for everyday use. Thanks to the new E3 1.2 electronic architecture, the Q6 e-tron range represents the pinnacle of the Audi product portfolio.

“The Audi Q6 e-tron is the latest flagship of Audi’s electric model initiative, based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) electric platform jointly developed with Porsche. We are proud that the electric drives for the PPE platform are being produced in Győr, and will bring Audi’s latest top model to life,” said Michael Breme, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.

Series production of PPE drives began last year as a result of a cross-functional collaboration between the Technical Development, Experimental Engine Manufacturing Center, Production Planning, Quality Assurance and the production departments in Győr. The production of PPE drives consists of the manufacture of stator and transmission components and the assembly of the drives. Our employees have acquired new competences and participated in targeted training programs in the production of electric drives for PPE.

“In our powertrain production, we are embracing transformation, of which the PPE project is a perfect example: the new powertrain production lines have been set up in a former internal combustion engine hall, with many of our employees moving from the internal combustion engine world to the new powertrain production area. The company has provided them with a comprehensive training program,” said Robert Buttenhauser, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, responsible for Powertrain Production.

In Hungary, the Audi Q6 e-tron is distributed by Porsche Hungaria.

“Our new Q6 electric SUV has been much anticipated by our customers, as it is an ideally sized vehicle with a premium experience. We are very excited that we will soon be able to share the experience of this car with the general public,” said Fruzsina Zakariás, Brand Director of Audi at Porsche Hungaria.

The latest model of the premium car brand is expected to be available from the end of March in Hungarian dealerships and at the online configurator
