Escape room at Audi Hungaria: training with a difference

Győr, August 9, 2024 – With the company’s first escape room, Audi Hungaria launched an innovative training opportunity almost a year ago for its colleagues with a flexible work schedule. The aim of this training program is to approach the issue of transformation in the automotive industry from the perspective of cultural change and diversity, using modern methods. A team of 5–7 people has one hour to escape, following the rules of a classic escape room game. Players also build a schematic electric motor while solving the tasks.

The Escape Room was conceived by the creators of the program series “Volkswagen Group Components Transform Minds” to facilitate the reception of automotive transformation. The international team of “Escape2Change”, which also includes colleagues from Győr, wanted to bring the tasks and the process of change closer to the employees. To do this, they created a playful prototype, following the rules of a classic escape room game. This program was brought by the team to Győr, where they set up an escape room at the Audi Hungaria Motor Training Center together with the employees of Vehicle Drives at Production Management, who launched the training in 2022. In more than one and a half years, over 200 employees have participated in the training, where they discuss their feelings and experiences with the trainer after escaping and solving the tasks, and they also analyze the deeper message of the topics in focus.

In addition to a change of attitude, the training also strengthens the players’ social relationships and gives them a new impetus for everyday teamwork. The escape room is an important building block in Audi Hungaria’s efforts to create a future-oriented corporate culture. It will help prepare employees for the challenges of the future and provide them with a positive experience of the transformation. Since the launch of the program, other production sites have already been hosted, with plans to replicate the experience and lessons learned at Audi Hungaria.
