Audi Hungaria Environment won a special award in the REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) rate category for covering the company’s energy needs to a high extent through renewable energy sources.
All three pillars of ESG are highlighted in Audi Hungaria’s Next Level strategy.
In keeping with the objective of sustainability, Audi Hungaria is reducing its environmental footprint through a number of environmental measures. The company has been carbon neutral in its balance sheet since January 2020. In addition, Audi Hungaria is the largest industrial user of geothermal energy in Hungary; and its carbon neutrality is also supported by one of the largest solar parks in Europe, covering a total of 160,000 square meters on the roofs of the company’s logistics centers. As an industrial player, Audi Hungaria aims to operate in complete harmony with its environment: it places particular emphasis on protecting the flora and fauna of the factory site and on preserving biodiversity, and therefore manages its 2.3 million square meters of green space according to ecological criteria.
As one of the largest employers in the country, Audi Hungaria is a responsible corporate citizen and a regular supporter of social and health institutions, organizations and sports and cultural life in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, launching a number of community initiatives to improve the quality of life of the citizens living in the region. On the volunteering day called Social Day, five major projects were carried out by hundreds of Audi employees in and around Győr, including the founding of the country’s first donation center by setting up a donation management system. The company is also a committed supporter of the kayak-canoe section of the Győr Water Sports Association, the Staféta Student Sports Association, the EMBERsÉG DSE and the “House of Providence” of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta, which in addition to competitive sports also supports recreational sports and sports for people with disabilities.
Audi Hungaria is committed to corporate governance standards, transparency and accountability. The company also assesses its suppliers based on technical, quality and sustainability criteria. It also prioritizes the continuous improvement of the corporate IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on data protection. Through external and internal audits, Audi Hungaria demonstrates that its quality system complies with the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
This year, the company also launched an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) master’s program at the University of Győr in cooperation with Széchenyi István University. This unique program offers students the opportunity to gain practical knowledge from representatives of the corporate sector.
