TT Birthplace Tour: Audi TT fans’ reunion at Audi Hungaria

Győr, June 23, 2023 – Yesterday, the international TT Owners Club, comprising fans sharing a passion for the model, arrived in Győr, and their first trip was straight to Audi Hungaria, the birthplace of the legendary sports car, the Audi TT. During their visit to the Győr-based factory, 80 members of the club, mainly from Germany, took a look behind the scenes of the production of Audi Hungaria models such as the Audi Q3, the Q3 Sportback, the Audi TT and the TT Coupé, familiarized themselves with the techniques used in the paint shop and watched the production process of the engines built into the Audi TT RS, the R8 and the Lamborghini Huracan models, and the testing of the TT models in the wind tunnel. The programs were followed by a test drive with more than 50 first-, second- and third-generation Audi TTs in the city centre of Győr and then in Pannonhalma.

“The Audi TT is a true design icon that has been captivating car enthusiasts for 25 years. It was fantastic to meet the members of the German TT Owners Club in person and to feel their enthusiasm for our sporty and elegant model, our Hungaricum. We are proud to have been able to show them during their visit where the birth of an Audi model particularly dear to us, Hungarians, took place,” said Zoltán Les, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria responsible for Vehicle Manufacturing.

Audi has made design history with the Audi TT models. Since its debut in 1998, the sports car has wowed people around the world with its unique style and driving experience. In 1999, Auto Europe voted the Audi TT as the best new car of the year, which was also a real novelty at Audi Hungaria, since it was the TT model that the company started its vehicle manufacturing with. At first, the lacquered bodywork of the TTs arrived by train from Ingolstadt to Győr, where the Győr-based staff carried out the final assembly of the vehicles. In 2013, with the opening of the new vehicle factory, the entire production process moved to Győr — from the press shop through the body shop and paint shop to the final assembly of the cars. In 25 years, over 650,000 TT models have been produced at Audi Hungaria.
