Győr, 13 March 2015 – AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. and the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra have entered into a cooperation. With the signing of the three-year sponsorship agreement, the engine and vehicle manufacturer has further strengthened its commitment to the region’s cultural values. On Friday, a ceremonial concert marks the commencement of this long-term partnership.

“When they played at the opening ceremony of our vehicle factory, the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra created a uniquely celebratory atmosphere. Now we are especially happy to welcome this internationally renowned orchestra as our new partner,” said Dr. h.c. Thomas Faustmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria. “We are committed to supporting social and cultural causes. As we are the largest employer in the region, corporate social responsibility is of high priority to us. Just like the members of the Philharmonic Orchestra, we here at Audi Hungaria also have to work perfectly in harmony with each other to eventually create a wonderful work of art.”

The ceremonial concert, conducted by Kálmán Berkes and featuring works by Rachmaninoff and Beethoven, serves as the official launching event of the cooperation between Audi Hungaria and the Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Director of the Orchestra, Géza Fűke commented thus on the newly established collaboration with Audi Hungaria: “We feel greatly appreciated by having such a highly esteemed premium manufacturer as a supporter. Audi Hungaria expresses beauty and quality through its engines and cars; we use our musical instruments to bring them into being.”

The Győr Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in the second half of the 19th century and became an all-professional ensemble in 1968. Since then it has played in almost every European country as well as overseas, performing many highly successful concerts. The ensemble plays an outstanding role in the region’s musical and cultural life. More recently the Orchestra has undergone a period of significant further development, best signified perhaps by a list of soloists it has performed with, including names such as Zoltán Kocsis, Bobby McFerrin, Dezső Ránki, the King’s Singers, Cyprien Katsaris, or Ennio Morricone.

Ever since its incorporation, Audi Hungaria has displayed a strong commitment to supporting the region’s cultural life. In addition to assisting the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, the premium manufacturer has been acting as the main sponsor of the world-famous Ballet Company of Győr since 2002. The company has also sponsored several cultural events and initiatives, such as the annual Hungarian Dance Festival or the closing concerts of the Győr Summer Festival, featuring international star performers. Audi Hungaria is also a key partner of the popular Experidance Dance Company.
