Audi Hungaria started powertrain production 30 years ago in Győr. The company’s product portfolio was expanded in 2018 with the addition of electric drives. The company started production of its latest electric motor, the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), in November this year.
“Over the past decades, our company has developed into the world's largest engine plant – we are a key player in the global production network of the Audi and Volkswagen Group. To date, a total of half a million electric drives have been produced in Győr. With this, we have reached another milestone in the long history of our company. Many thanks to the entire team! With the start of production of the new generation of PPE electric drives, we have reached the next step in the further development of our product portfolio. At the same time, we have increased our vertical integration, which has enabled our colleagues to acquire new expertise, e.g. in transmission components. With our highly qualified specialists, we are continuously improving the efficiency of our combustion engines and continuing on the path of e-mobility,” said Robert Buttenhauser, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria responsible for Powertrain Production.
Audi Hungaria not only manufactures, but also develops electric drives: since 2001, the Technical Development hub has been supporting the company’s manufacturing activities not only in Győr, but also at other Audi and Volkswagen Group sites.
